I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

Persons entering the office of Attorney D. Hershel Wilson in Banning see the words "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

This Bible verse is on a large, carefully lettered sign behind the reception desk. When asked, Hershel Wilson tells visitors, "I kept my Bible opened to this page while I prepared to take the California Bar Exam in 1981. These words help guide my life and my law practice".

Hershel Wilson received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas in 1971. Two years later, he earned his Master of Arts degree in Pastoral Counseling from Harding University Graduate School of Religion in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1974 he received a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Psychology from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas.

Hershel Wilson came to the Pass Area in 1973, as minister of the Banning Church of Christ. He continued in this ministry until 1979. During this period, from 1974 to 1976, he was also an Instructor in Religion and Psychology at the Palm Desert Center of Pepperdine University. After receiving his Juris Doctor degree from Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California, he worked as a law clerk in the Banning office of Attorney Ruth E. McClellan. When he was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1981, they formed the law firm of McClellan and Wilson. After Ruth McClellan died in 1987, Hershel Wilson chose to honor her memory by not changing the name of the law firm. Her picture is in the reception area.

During the mid-1990s, Hershel Wilson was an Instructor in Wills and Trusts at California Southern School of Law in Riverside, California. He is a certified specialist in Probate, Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts, certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He is also a certified Elder Law Attorney, certified by the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, of which he is a member.

Hershel Wilson gives numerous talks and free seminars to associations and clubs interested in learning about Elder Law and how the law protects and helps the elderly. He is a generous supporter of San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning. He frequently helps clients include in their will or trust a gift to the hospital foundation and/or to other local charities.
